Building a brand as authentic as the people behind it.

Devil's Head Coffee began with a passion for great coffee, adventure, and the outdoors. With the logo already in place, the opportunity was to build everything around it, creating a cohesive brand experience that reflected the founders' personality and connected with customers at every touchpoint.
The Opportunity
A logo is only the beginning of a brand.
The challenge was taking an existing identity and developing a visual system that felt consistent, authentic, and memorable. Every customer interaction, from browsing the website to picking up a bag of coffee, needed to reinforce the adventurous spirit behind the company.

My Role
Working closely with the founders, I developed the brand experience beyond the logo, designing the site architecture, coffee packaging, signage, business cards, merchandise, and supporting marketing materials.
I also collaborated with a web developer to bring the website to life, ensuring the user experience and visual design reflected the personality of the brand from the first click.

Bringing It to Life
Every touchpoint was designed to work together, creating a brand experience that felt consistent whether customers were browsing the website, picking up a bag of coffee, or visiting the roastery.
One of the most important pieces was developing a flexible packaging system that the founders could manage themselves. Rather than creating static artwork for every coffee variety, I designed a colour-coded series of editable PDF templates that allowed them to update roast information, tasting notes, and product details without relying on a designer for every change.
The system reduced production costs, streamlined day-to-day operations, and gave the team the flexibility to grow their product line while maintaining a consistent brand experience.

A Favourite Detail
One of my favourite parts of the project was designing the coffee packaging.
The founders were passionate about quality, sustainability, and supporting ethical coffee production. They also wanted a solution that reflected those values while being practical for a growing business.
Instead of creating a packaging system that depended on ongoing design support, I developed a flexible, colour-coded template system that empowered them to produce and update their own packaging as new coffees were introduced. It was a simple solution that reduced waste, lowered costs, and gave them greater independence.
I love projects like this because good design isn't just about aesthetics. It's about creating systems that make life easier for the people who use them.

The Outcome
The finished brand experience gave Devil's Head Coffee a cohesive presence across digital and physical touchpoints while creating practical tools that supported the business as it grew.
From the website and signage to the packaging system, every element reflected the founders' adventurous spirit, commitment to quality, and belief that thoughtful choices, from ethical sourcing to sustainable practices, make for a better cup of coffee.
